Barri saw Mom for the first time tonight and was alarmed at how she looked. She has a lot of tubes and stuff. The halo is pretty impressive too. Can't wait til she's up and hair washed so we can send out a picture of it and her. We got the preliminary results from EEG which showed no signs of seizures--that's good--but we won't get the full report til the morning. This should tell us if she has some kind of brain slowing thing that I can't remember the name of, but that doesn't have any long term effects. If she has it, that would explain the low level of responsiveness.

late night
Mom's vitals look good tonight. We were worried about her blood pressure, but it was equipment malfunction. She has a fever. The follow up on her unresponsiveness was to do an EEG this afternoon, where they turned off all the lights, hooked up a zillion electrodes on her head, then flashed strobe lights. She wasn't real impressed with that. Amy said she was waving her good arm and leg around. With her slow responses, she couldn't blink her eyelids fast enough and got pretty ticked off.

Jill, Amy, Brian, and Janet,
Thanks so much for all the updates. We are still thinking about you and you are in our prayers. I remember how difficult it was last year when my Mom was in the hospital in Arizona. It is hard to be displaced from your home on top of going through everything. For what it is worth, we played lots of games of UNO which passed the time a little faster. It sounds like Janet is getting good medical care.
As far as what is going on here, we went to three birthday parties this past week-end. Kevin was thrilled. His thoughts about a birthday is that it includes "presents, cake, and balloons." He was right as they all had those elements.
Cassidy had a soccer game. She did not score but did shoot at the goal. Katie had a swimming lesson. We are hoping to get her swimming strong enough to be on the swim team this summer. Jake made me a cutting garden for flowers in the back of the house. He planted the flowers from seed so we'll see how they make out. I finished up one legal project and am starting a second one this week. Sesame Place opens up during the week here. I remember going to Sesame Place with Jill when it first opened. It has changed a lot. They have a water park and rides now. They don't have the ball pit anymore.
Katie has a Mother's Day Tea on Thursday in her first grade class and we have her Brownie Troop meeting Thursday afternoon. We are going to do the 5 Senses Try-it. I am in a book club and we meet this Wednesday. The book we read was called "Pretty Birds" about a young woman who becomes a sniper during the conflict in Bosnia in the 90s. It is interesting because it is based on true facts and, at first, you cannot understand how this nice girl would become a sniper. As the story unfolds, you get a better understanding of that.
We love you all very much here. I will right again soon.
Love, Leanne
Hi All,
My sister called me Sunday (Valerie) and filled me in and asked me to pray for you all, especially Janet and Brian, so pray I will! Sounds like you're in good hands. It sure is hard being in limbo, but it sounds like although it will take some time she's going to be ok. I'm really glad that you guys are able to be there to support your mom and dad, each other too.
We were at a soccer tournament all weekend in Simi Valley, about an hour away from Santa Barbara. All in all we had 11 soccer games between the 3 girls( Emma 12, Oliv 10 and Allie nearly 8) A pretty good show for all of them, but especially for Oliv's team who took 2nd place. They just had to tye the last game and they would have been the winners, unfortunately one slipped by and the other team got the big trophy. O well. Our girls still took home some hardware. This weekend was followed by a 6th grade trip to Disneyland on Friday with Emma. A big weekend, busy but good.
Janet, I thought you might like to know that my Emma devours books. She can't get enough and is reading at a 11th grade level. All I know is that she can finsih a book faster than I can. I'm wondering how that happened that my little girl is a faster reader than I am!! Seems like she's got the book virus like you and Russell do.
Well, I'll keep checking the blog to see how everthing is going. Hugs and prayers for all.
Love,
Adrienne
Dear Hansens family,
I just checked in for today's report on Janet's condition. Pleased to see there's still good reason to hope for Janet's recovery. Hang in there, everybody!
Love, Lesley

Hi Janet… Needless to say, Dave and I were shocked and heart sick to hear about the accident. But, we are confident that every thing will be fine.
I know you are proud of your family, but are you aware of just how awesome they all are? I spoke to Brian last night and he sounded so strong and steady. Jill and Amy have jumped right in and done a fantastic job keeping your legions of friends up to date on your progress.
Jill told me that the object of these "blogs" to give you our best wishes AND keep you up to date on every thing going on outside ICU.
Since our Birthday lunch at the peanut place (aka Logans) quite a bit has happened around here. Duncan and Kim finally agreed to invite my mom and her grand mother to Braden's birthday party. My mom is excited and Kim's grandmother is not sure she wants to come. She doesn't want to get "stuck" some place. Duncan confided to me that he is dealing with crazy people.
Meredith is not throwing up as much. Her genetic test indicated some potential risks, so she is going in for more testing next week. On top of everything else, the bridge that replaced her front teeth shattered the other night. She has a temp in now and should get a new bridge in a couple of weeks.
I'm keeping sane by planting lots of flowers. Dave is busy making building blocks for Braden's birthday.
This is my first-ever blog. My computer skills are growing by leaps and bounds!!! It is a good way to communicate, but I'm waiting for the day you are in a room with a phone. I need to hear your voice. Trust me...I will be relentless. I will be bugging you every day. Until I can tell you my self, please remember how much Dave and I love you, Brian and the girls. We are hoping for a speedy recovery. Dave wants a rematch on "Hand and Foot".....Love Donna
